CALLALILLY

The film showcases the work of an amazingly gifted artist and doll maker Christy Kane and tells the story of Callalilly from her book Tales of the Sisters Kane.

Past Cool Projects: Bruce Bickford Animation Jam

During a visiting artist workshop with Bruce Bickford I organized at Cal Arts, my students created an animated clay short. With Bruce at the lead, each student continued the shot after the last animator and produced this "stream of clay-conscience" film. The students had fun and learned quite a lot. Check it out.

Past Cool Projects: "LUCKY"

"Lucky" is a film that was made in a stop motion production class I taught at the Gnomon School. Eight talented students came up with a concept, wrote the script, built the sets and puppets, animated and completed all the post work in 10 weeks. It went on to win Best Achievement in Story at the "AnimaZing Spotlight Festival". I'm very proud of what they accomplished. Take a look.

Inter-Dimensional Safari

Here's a clip from my new project. What happens when a large corporation discovers a portal to a fantastic world in another dimension? Nothing good!!

HippoSaurus

Here's a dino character I made while playing with textures and color. I didn't know to save it as a tool so I can't recreate it as a 3D model.

Just Playing Around

When I start using new software I just play with all the buttons and brushes and see what happens. Reading books and manuals don't really work for me. I never retain the info. Dvd's are cool but the those artists work too fast and don't really explain why things do what they do. So I play around and get stuff like this.

My New Year "Z BRUSH" Commitment

Beginning in 2010 I will be learning to work with the digital sculpting software Z Brush. I've been both interested and intimidated by the power of this tool for a while now. So I took the plunge, bought the damn thing and jumped in. I will be posting all my baby steps as I delve into this new world of sculpting. I don't know if it will work for me but at least this blog will chronicle my efforts. Let's see what happens.
